Will I actually remember my vocabulary the next day? How does Tomaru show my progress?

On your second day, Tomaru has you finish the cards coming back from yesterday, then tells you how many of yesterday's words you remembered; each week it also recaps how many words you met and how many you recalled, with a percentage, when they came back after 3 or more days. The outer ring on Home always shows how much you remember right now.

Key points

  • Tomaru's day-two check: on your second day of studying, after you finish the cards returning from yesterday, Tomaru shows "Remembered M/N words from yesterday," with the words you remembered and the ones you missed listed separately.
  • Tomaru's day-two check appears only once, and only you can see it.
  • Tomaru's weekly recap tells you how many words you met this week, how many of the words tested again after three or more days you recalled, and your recall percentage.
  • Tomaru's Home screen always shows the share of words you remember right now in its outer ring, with the number of words you know next to it.
  • Every number in Tomaru's day-two check and weekly recap comes from your own review history, not from an estimate.

Why check the next day and a few days later?

If you can recall a word right after learning it, that's mostly short-term memory. Recalling it a day later, or three or more days later, is what shows it has really stuck. Tomaru puts your results at both of these points in front of you, so you can see whether the way you study is working.

What if I forgot a lot of words in the day-two check?

That's completely normal. Tomaru tests the words you forgot again soon, and recalling them now makes them stick longer; just keep studying each day with "Start studying."

Where can I see the weekly recap?

After you finish the day's words, the weekly recap appears on the completion screen, showing how many words you met this week and what percentage you remembered when they came back after 3 or more days.

Can parents see their child's results?

Not at the moment. There is no parent view, so the day-two check and weekly recap are visible only to the learner. Teammates in an Adventure Party can only see who has finished today.
